Grants for Disabled People

If you are a disabled person you may be able to get some money from the government. The government and other private organizations have thousands of grants lined up for people that are disabled. Before you go off applying for any grant, you need to first think about what type of grant that you are looking for. There are tons of grants out there but they are all specific grants. For example, there are grants that will help you pay for college and there are grants that will help you to start a business.

If you are looking to go back to school, then you would want to apply for the Pell grant for disabled people. This type of grant is based off of your income. The poorer that you are, the more money that you will get. The grant comes from the federal government and to apply you would need to fill out the FAFSA. This free form will ask you about how much income that you make and the amount of assets that you have. It will also ask if your family makes a contribution. All this information is used to calculate the amount of money that you will get. Once you get the grant, you can use it to help pay tuition, books, and other supplies. Before applying for student loans, you should try to get the grant first.

If you are looking to start a business, then you would need to apply for business grants for disabled people. This is a much better option than applying for a business loan because with a loan you have to pay it back. That is not the case with grants. You have no need to pay it back and once you get the money you can use it as you wish. Look on the government grants site for business grants. You can also try to contact some organizations that are willing to help the disabled. Most likely you will have to write a convincing argument as to why you need the grant. There are probably many others that are trying to apply for the same grant. The key to applying for grants is to try as many organizations as possible. You will be more likely to receive money just by throwing out as many applications as possible. To heighten your chances of getting the grant, you could hire someone to help you write the grant proposal.

I get both V A and SSDI, but my wife went overboard on spending before I turned 65 so I am a little short on being able to get proper groceries. DO I qualify for a Grant to pay off my Van?
